Ways to Keep Virtual Dating Fun Whilst in Lockdown
Updated: Apr 30, 2020
Dating is already tough in the 21st century, right?! But it gets so much more complicated whilst in isolation. What about those couples living apart? Or people who started dating just before the pandemic? Not only that, what about people who have met online during it? Virtual dating is something pretty hard to get used to, especially when you haven't known each other for very long.
I've put together a few tips on how to keep your virtual dating fun and flirty!
Have a coffee / brunch date
Most couples love to go and grab a coffee together along with some brunch. You can do that, from the comfort of your own home. Set up a table, get some napkins out and make yourself a nice latte. For those of you that have just started dating, this is a great way to get to know one another. If you want, you can even add some background noise chit chatter. If you click the link, it should create an illusion you are at a coffee shop. Thank me later. ;)
You can have a little beer garden date
If you and your date are lucky to have a garden, then this is perfect! Grab a space in your garden / balcony, pour yourself a beer or cider and sit yourself on Zoom. This really works. Me and my Dad FaceTime (me from my balcony and him from his garden), I sit him opposite me with a cider, and put on Spotify in the background. It really creates a chilled illusion you're in a beer garden. Best thing about this? You can be your own bartender, no waiting in line for your beers!
There are some great beer garden playlists on Spotify you can listen to whilst on your date, type in 'beer garden' on the search bar for all the playlists and enjoy the lovely sunshine!
Cook a meal together
Cooking a meal together is great for a virtual date night. It's perfect for couples who want to get to know each other, as it can be really fun and playful. You can also get really dressed up for this date which can help beat the blues of being stuck at home.

Watch a film together
This is a great little date night idea. These type of dates don't need much planning, you and your date will just need to pick a film & get comfy. It may even be fun to browse for films together and come up with a list of things you would like to watch. If you have google chrome, you can use Netflix Party, this makes streaming/syncing the film much easier.
Host an online game night
You can play loads of games with your partner, such as Scrabble, Poker & Charades. This can be a really fun date night. You can find plenty more games like this online if you would like something a bit more competitive!
Getting to know someone virtually, or just catching up with a loved one you already know well can be really fun! I hope these tips help you and your date make the most of the coming weeks, & I hope you have a fabulous time when you finally meet up / get back together!
