Cocktail Time: How to Make an Espresso Martini
It's been a number of weeks since my last cocktail blog, so I thought I'd do a quick one on this rainy Friday afternoon.
As most of you know if you read my blogs, my boyfriend is an ex barista and ex bartender, so when I asked if we could put together an Espresso martini, he was SO excited. (Check his blog page out @min_effort.
Whilst we were making this cocktail, we had a look at its history and found some really interesting things.
Are you ready for some Espresso Martini facts you can tell your friends and co-workers at parties?!
It's thought that the espresso martini was created some time in the late 1980's London.
Supposedly, a bartender at "Fred's Club" was asked by a woman for something that would 'wake her up and then (mess) her up!'
When interviewed about it, this bartender said, 'The coffee machine was right next to where I served drinks, so coffee was very much on my mind.'
Because of his quick thinking and improvisation, we now have one of the most popular cocktails to date!
How cool is that?!
Now the fun part, how to make one of these...
Thow Ice in a cocktail shaker
Add 50ml of Vodka
Add 25ml of Espresso
15ml of Vanilla Syrup
Put in 15ml of Coffee Liqueur
Shake for 20 seconds
Strain into a Martini glass
Then garnish with coffee beans (if you're cool and have some, unlike us!)
& there you have it!
If you make one this weekend, be sure to let us know by tweeting me on @Rachesblogs or commenting in the section below! Have a great weekend, whatever you do!
